As a student planning to study management, I realized that classroom alone wouldn't be enough to fully prepare me for the challenges from the world. Eager to gain market-related experience before university, I stepped into the world of __16__ this summer.
I noticed a problem in my community: the electricity supply was not __17__, often being insufficient and leading to frequent power cuts that affected daily life. This created a clear need for a charging station, so I decided to open one to __18__ the issue. What started as a way to prepare myself for college quickly turned into a meaningful project, shaping my understanding of how business can not only __19__ practical needs but also make a lasting impact in a community.
The response to my business was __20__. On the first three days alone, I made $406. That initial success was more than just encouraging-it was __21__ that I was solving a real problem and that the market was there for my services. Seeing people stream into the center, grateful for the charging service, __22__ my belief that business is about addressing needs and serving others.
The journey of starting this business was not without challenges. When I needed __23__ to start the business, I negotiated with my relatives to give me two cows, which I then sold to raise funds. I also __24__ technical skills to handle the electrical work myself, which reduced my startup costs. Today, the charging center is alive with activities.
The skills I've acquired will certainly serve me well as I begin my university journey. Looking back, I can see how these __25__ lessons have set a stage for the future.
As we all know, English is an important subject in middle school. Everyone knows that they must learn English well, but some people don't know how to learn it well. Here are some suggestions which may help you with your English.
The biggest problem is people's own fear. They worry that they won't say things correctly or that they will look foolish so that they don't speak English at all. Don't be afraid of being laughed at. Only if we aren't afraid of making mistakes can we learn English well.
The fastest way to learn something is to do it again and again until you get it right. Learning English needs practice. Don't let a little fear stop you from getting what you want.
The best way to learn English is to have a good environment. Take notes in English, put English books around your room, listen to English radios, watch English news, movies and TV programs. Speak English with your friends whenever you can. The more English materials that you have around you, the faster you will learn it.
Many people think that exercises and tests aren't much fun. However, by doing exercises and taking tests you can really improve your English. If you never test yourself, you will never know how much you are making progress.
In September 2022, the origami(折纸)artist Pei Haozheng set the Guinness World Record for his work, Deer with 100 Flowers made from a single piece of paper. Born in 1996 in Nanjing, Pei started folding paper when he was just a kid. At first, from flowers to planes, he learned folding from friends and parents. And in 2001, Pei started teaching himself through origami books. He showed great interest in "the magic world made by paper" because in his eyes, a piece of paper held great possibilities. Every day, Pei spent hours folding paper. He completed hundreds of lifelike models.
His efforts paid off. In 2017, he won the International Origami Internet Olympiad. Pei folded an ancient Chinese woman holding a mirror, and the work surprised judges with its special shape and eastern style. "The beauty of origami lies in its creativity from a single square paper through just folding with no cuts or glue," said Pei.
People are surprised at the origami flowers in his work, Deer with 100 Flowers, it is an origami deer with 100 roses on its antlers(角). But for Pei, the most difficult part was creating it in a way that could show Chinese culture. "The design comes from the poem To the Oak by Chinese poet Shu Ting and the Chinese saying which means a successful road to a bright future. I made it to express my deep love for my country and help Chinese culture spread to the whole world," said Pei.
Did you take part in a camp this summer? There are so many summer camps and not all of them are the same. To choose which camp is best for you, first you must do a bit of research.
Maybe you've never thought about it before, but every great summer camp has the same main goals-opportunity, challenge and growth.
Opportunity means you are given a chance to do something special. It also makes you special because other kids don't have the same opportunity. For example, if you are interested in writing, then you can choose to join a journalism camp. You may have the opportunity of meeting famous journalists there.
Challenge means you are given a task. You must finish the task and succeed in dealing with the challenge. Then you will have a sense of achievement. For example, you could take a lifeguard course at some summer camps. If you pass the exam, then you will receive a certificate to become a real lifeguard.
This also leads to the third and most important goal of very great summer camp-personal growth. It doesn't mean growing taller and stronger or more beautiful. It means seeing yourself improve, learning something new and doing something you didn't know or believe you could do before. It also means becoming more confident in yourself.
So in the future when choosing your next summer camp, remember to ask yourself: Is it a special opportunity? Is it a challenge? Will I grow?
But what about friendship, fun and joy? These will all happen naturally when you have the right goals at summer camps!
As summer gives way to autumn, many of us find ourselves lacking warmth and sunlight. And the shorter days make some people feel upset and lazy. They are having the so-called autumn sadness. In worse cases, however, some may suffer from seasonal affective disorder, or SAD.
SAD is a type of depression. It mostly starts in the late autumn or early winter and goes away in the spring and summer. People who have SAD oversleep, overeat, and lose interest in activities they once liked. They also feel sad and even desperate.
The reason for SAD is not clear. Johns Hopkins University said that the lack of natural light during the autumn and winter months may disrupt the body clock and the making of hormones. This disruption can lead to depression.
People with SAD often need medical help. Light therapy is a common and useful way to treat it. Doctors advise patients to get as much sunlight as possible. Light therapy helps to balance hormones and get a patient's life back on track.
Also, living a healthy life, like sleeping early, exercising often, and eating well, can help people deal with SAD.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health of the US, in most cases, SAD begins in young adulthood. So, while studying inside the classroom, don't forget to get some sunshine outside the classroom when you can!
